The Trinity River Park is a long-time dream for many people in the Dallas area. There has been talks within the local government that this project need to be done as soon as possible to have the project settled quickly. The mayor of Dallas Mike Rawlings, wanted to create a new corporation for the development of this project with public and private money. Public-private project like this one are great for the development of a city. The local government shouldn't be the only one that pushes for projects that the cities desperately need.
This park, for instance, is a major separation between the downtown-to-east Dallas and west Dallas. The socio-economic aspects of the west Dallas makes it clear that the eastern part of dallas is wealthier and better developed than the west. This project will connect better east from west and bring economic prosperity for the city as a whole. Theirs project will have major social and economic purposes since this park will be the largest within the United states and will create new development along the river path.
This corporation that Mr. Rawlings is calling upon is to have people that would only work on that park and the park alone. Money from the private sector such as the donation from Annette Simmons for $50 million will give the project the funds necessary to build and finish the project soon. The corporation will have the efficiency of the private sector to utilize the money in the areas that really needs them but with the approval of government to keep the project develop in pace.
This project can be also political since this would be, hopefully, a major transit area after its completion to develop more highways around the project. Plans for new toll roads are being studies but there are some that are against the creating of more tolls. There is still little to be known if the project will bring the necessity to build more roads but there should be more talks about the development of such after the Trinity Park project is concluded and well in function.
