ESPN reported that the head coach of Baylor University football, Art Briles, along with
many assistants have been covering up many sexual assaults done by their football players. This
will turn out extremely bad for the football program because it is illegal. Coach Art Briles has
covered up these assaults at all costs by paying or ignoring victims’ families, and developing
relationships with the police to not give the stories much attention. This whole situation is messy
as many people at Baylor University will lose their jobs. I chose this article because this has
magnitude for the sport of college football. This will humble some players and coaches to tell the
truth in situations. I would address this problem by just cleaning out this whole program. The
reason is because if the NCAA lets this slide without any consequences then there would be a
slippery slope scenario as in every football program will think that it is okay. At the end of the
day, these programs’ mottos are just to keep going ahead and doing illegal things without getting
caught.

It is interesting to look at this post after the aftermath that happened at Baylor. After the firing of their head football coach and athletic director, Baylor football is currently 5-0 and a favorite to win the Big 12 conference. They have no postseason ban and do not seem to have any restrictions placed upon the team this year. What is crazy to me is that through the thick of all of the scandal, Art Briles (the head coach of Baylor at the time) said that he knew "nothing" about these allegations - which is a lie. Numerous women have come forward with the fact that they went to the school administration along with the athletic department and they were told it was being handled. As a Christian, this situation must be handled a lot more properly than it was. The Baylor administration put winning football games (which for the record, last year they did not even win the Big 12 the year during the scandal period) ahead of valuing and protecting young women's lives. It is an atrocity in my view how the NCAA lets Baylor slide with this, but it is ultimately another example of how corrupt our world that we live in is.
