The article examines satellite images in Syria, north of Damascus, and several other forms of evidence for the claim that the Syrian government is using a crematorium to hide mass murders at a prison. It examines many of the horrors of the Syrian regime and includes excerpts of citizens in nearby towns to support the suspicions. As a response to this, there are many questions being asked by the American people, such as “Why are these photos just being released?”. This matter concerns the greatly concerns the government. With this evidence massive steps need to be made to protect life and address the issues at hand. This article peaked my interest because the Syrian crisis is heavy on my heart. The people of Syria are being greatly oppressed and this article illuminates the possibility of more terror overseas. This is an issue of the sanctity of life. As a Christian, this issue should prompt me to action. We are called to protect the weak and value life. This is a direct objection to the truth of scripture. I would address this problem by taking action and investigate the situation further. As we learned from the horror of the Holocaust, sitting by and not taking action is no way to solve the problem. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/15/world/middleeast/syria-assad-pri...
Jessica, I really liked what you had to say. After reading the article many of the questions that others in the article had came to my mind. The most prominent one is the one that you mentioned. Why are these photos just now being released? I feel that if the government was in possession of these photos with reasonable evidence that Syria was burning the bodies of prisoners they should have released them sooner. Like you said, this is an issue of the sanctity of life.
The issues that surround Syria, the refugee crisis, and their civil war has been close to my heart as well. I attended a missions luncheon this past year that covered this topic and that has since opened my eyes to the atrocities that are occurring in this country. I definitely agree with you when you said that as Christians we should be moved to action. This article you presented has inspired me to indeed take action. I feel that the spread of this new information will open the eyes of many people and in turn, just as they mentioned in the article, cause Russia to fall away from Syria and pressure the Syrian president into confession.
Jessica, I completely agree with the things that you have to say. This is such a serious issue and America must decide when and how to intervene. I believe that the media only releases certain information and does not allow the public eye to know everything. Therefore, this can skew public opinion and influence the people to demand action. This does seem very similar to a holocaust, and I believe America needs to take action. My cousin got trapped overseas in Indonesia for having ADD medicine. They imprisoned him and threw him in a hole for three days. It took him 6 months to get out of prison, and his options were release or death. He actually escaped with the help of two CIA agents, a sailboat, and the grace of God. I understand the corruption that goes on overseas and as Christians, it is our responsibility to make a change.
