Florida Senator Marco Rubio spoke unashamedly of his stand on life before birth last Thursday at the GOP Debate, declaring, "…All human life is worthy of protection, irrespective of the circumstances in which that human life was created." He further clarified on NBC’s "Meet the Press" Sunday evening that he definitely means all abortions: "I personally and deeply believe that all human life is worthy of the protection of our laws. I do. And I believe that irrespective of the conditions by which that life was conceived, or anything else, and for me to be consistent on that belief." After his bold statements, Hilary Clinton proclaimed in a press conference on Monday that Rubio’s views are both "offensive" and "outrageous." Clinton, of course, holds very radical, liberal views on abortion, supporting it in any instance. According to Gallup, only 19% of Americans stand by Rubio’s more conservative stance on abortion.
As someone who holds the same stance as Rubio, I am glad to see someone making such valiant stances on the issue, and even pointing back to his Christian faith as the reasoning. I chose this subject because this is such an important topic in the upcoming elections, and as a Christian, I need to make sure that my views align with the views of whom I am voting for. I have a lot of respect for Rubio’s audaciousness—he hasn’t shied away or backed down from press, even though he knows he will be scrutinized among the liberal media. This is not something seen often, and is by no means the "easy" route to take. I would hope that I would have the same boldness if I were in his shoes.
Wow, it take a lot of bravery for a presidential nominee to make such a strong statement about abortion. But I am so glad he did! I agree with Rubio 100%. I know his viewpoint is many times not accepted by the public, but I absolutely agree that life is precious and it should never be taken from someone prematurely. If a man like him won the election, the whole nation could be turned around. I believe abortion is one of the biggest issues in America and I know it would impact everyone if it was outlawed.
Hopefully, Christians will notice his faith and they will stand with him. If I was in his shoes, I would do the exact same thing. I would never want to compromise my convictions to gain a title. I believe God will honor his integrity and honesty. Thanks so much for sharing this; it's very encouraging to read!
Rubio is a very bold man for stating what he believes in. With media scrutinizing every small thing thing that comes from peoples mouths it is so hard to do what he did. I'm extremely glad that he said that though. I have the same belief on abortion and I will always fight for what is morally right. Thanks to people like Rubio who are able to voice it in the secular realm, the news and media.
Wow! I have not paid much attention to the different people running for office or their stances so this is a complete shock to me. I love that he stands up for what he believes and makes bold statements regarding it. That must be really hard knowing that a ton of people, especially the liberal leaning people, will wildly disagree with him. But nonetheless he still continues to stand firm and point back to the Bible for his reasoning. Our country needs a leader who can see the clear difference between right and wrong and leads in a manner dictated by that, rather than just giving into popular opinion our stepping down because of the media's scrutinization. I don't know this Rubio's other views on other "issues" but I am now definitely encouraged to look more into him and some of the other candidates. This will be the first presidential election that I am old enough to vote in so I am excited to do some research on the subject! Thanks for posting about this!
I completely agree with you and what you're saying about someone finally standing up for what is morally correct. It is about time someone with a high position in office to stand up for this issue, especially when they back it up with their Christian faith. Because of the stance he took on this issue and that he has been bold with his words, unfortunately he will be separated and pointed out by the liberals, and especially the media. This should not stop those of us who do back him up, from sharing this and standing by people like Rubio's side on the issue.
