Possible Impeachment for President Trump?

It's no secret that President Donald Trump has made some pretty controversial remarks and actions in his short few months as president. Now, has he taken it too far? Many people have begun to voice that Trump's actions are unconstitutional. Some of these voices have come from representatives in the House. A few democratic representatives are so fed up with Trump that they have thrown around the idea of impeachment, but no one has really done anything about it. That is, until Wednesday morning. On May 17th, democratic Rep. Al Green from Texas took the floor of the House and called for an official impeachment of President Trump stating that it is the House's duty to do this. Although many democratic representatives agree with Rep. Al Green, no republican representatives have spoken up about this. For an impeachment to occur there needs to be serious consideration and a majority support in the House.

While this unrest in Washington, which has spread throughout the whole country, is slightly terrifying we must not dwell on these matters and remember who is in control. No matter what happens our God has got everything planned out. As Christians we should focus on the political problems but also not forget who we represent here on earth. Dr. Jim Denison spoke of this in his daily email that I received this morning. It was suitably titled, "How should Christians respond to political turmoil?" In the email he wrote the most important thing that Christians should be doing today and I absolutely agree with what he said. Dr. Denison says, "As political turmoil continues, let's be people whose reasoned, truthful, and gracious speech sets us apart. What matters most is not what others think of us or even of the president. What matters most is what they think of Jesus. And the world judges Christ by Christians."

The political climate that we are currently living in is quiet shocking. From the time of his campaign announcement Trump has been a hot topic among the citizens of the United States. The discussion of impeachment does not particularly surprise me, simply due to the fact that he was such a controversial candidate and is now a controversial president. While there are constantly different viewpoint thrown at us by the media it is important to remember to take a humble approach at viewing his presidency. Regardless of our political opinions, as Christians we are called to be life givers. It is very important to be informed, to develop our political opinions and to engage in political action. Continuing to pray for our country's leaders and to respond in a manner like what Jim Denison spoke of is our best plan of action.

It is unbelievable that people are throwing around impeachment so fast. Republicans were looking for impeachment for Obama as well, when he could not prove where he was born. No one truly knew at the time if he was even an american born citizen. I cannot imagine the controversy going on over Trump and his new policies. Trump is completely a business man. He does not care about politics and I think that is where is gets him in trouble. He is looking at the betterment of our nation and to do that, he wants to lower our national debt. It is amazing to me that so many nations across the world respect and admire Trump, but his own country finds many flaws in him. Our nation has become one of constant complaining, in my opinion. I would not want to be in the shoes of Trump or any other republican that came into office immediately after Obama. Obama put into place policies that were very extreme for democrats and I believe that Trump is trying to undo and revise them. As Christians, we have to understand that we will not always get our way. No matter who is office, republican or democrat, we will have disagreements. However, the way we handle our disagreements will represent our Lord.
