Ohio man arrested for planning attack on U.S. Capitol

"According to FBI informat's legal testimony, Christopher Cornell, 20, of Cincinnati researched the construction of pipe bombs, purchased a semi-automatic rifle and 600 rounds of ammunition and made plans to travel to Washington to carry out the plot." 

After reading this article my mind was blown. I had no idea that this had even taken place in our country in the first place. Anytime I would watch the news, I would always get upset because of how corrupt our world has become. I always knew that I needed to be more aware of what was presently taking place in our country but after reading this it showed just how unaware I really am. I plan on changing that. The fact that the Islamic militants are still wanting to attack our country is scary yet eye opening. We as a people are in a war and we should always be aware of what is going on in our country. Caution is an understatement. So many people, like me, are unaware of what is happening in our country in the present day.

Christopher Cornell's father, John Cornell, said that he thought his son was coerced and how there is no way that he could carry out any terrorist plot. After reading this, it showed me how we never know who in our country is working with another country that wants to do harm to the U.S. It could be anyone. What a twisted world we live in. 

"Cornell was charged with attempting to kill a U.S. government officer and possession of a firearm in furtherance of an attempted crime of violence." I think that this punishment is not as extreme as it should be. If Cornell would have succeeded in his attack, there could have been many people killed, or injured. From the article, he had no hesitation with performing this act until he was caught. I just think about what could have happened if he wouldn't have gotten caught..

This article is mind-blowing. We cannot imagine how many are out there in all kinds of missions: terrorism, spying, etc. Globalization and technological advancements have allowed these types of activity to happen with much more easiness and frequency. The US takes this issue very seriously, especially ater the attack of 9-11. Many security procedures were intensified after that. As an example, the security check up in airports have become more strict and detailed. I believe it is very important for the US to invest in secutiry. It is one of the best countries to live in, and many other countries are trying to take over the US - or harm its economy and government, so they can gain more power/influence.
