The New Orleans City Planning Commission has created an extensive project for the city which is a five-year plan. The Louis Armstrong Airport is a part of this plan as well with an estimated price tag of $706 million. The total project will cost about 1.1 billion. With a desperate need for street improvements, upgrades for public facilities, libraries, museums, and recreation.
However, they run low on the resources and financial support for these investments. The plan is to set up a yearly budget. The planning commission chairperson is planning to have open meetings for any one to voluntary their opinions or suggestions on the project. The commission wants the community to be just as engaged as well.
Petitions have been signed by the community to include rainwater and drainage system under the Greater New Orleans Urban Water Plan. They feel the water system takes priority in the community for the economy which effect infrastructure, businesses, and homes.
