In Response to CNN's Article on the Recent Clown Scare

Today I read an article about the threat of clowns or people dressed around the nation due to a trend mostly seen on social media outlets such as Twitter and Facebook. In response to these threats, I believe that these threats while they may seem harmless should be taken seriously, especially by our local authorities and that we should begin to crack down more of these types of threats. People in these communities affected by these threats should report these threats to their local police so that communities can get the situation under control and keep our communities safe.

With that being said, I have personally seen these threats appear on social media in the DFW area, which has made me nervous to venture out into our area in a slight fear of being harmed by these threats. The article I read detailed how there have been several assaults on innocent people by people, which also made me even more nervous that these types of threats would escalate in the future. With that, I believe that one way we could solve this problem is to become more serious about taking these threats down from social media outlets instead of making jokes about them. Many people have made jokes about these clowns and their threats, which has in a way promoted these people’s behaviors. This allows the authorities to not be able to full shut down these threats as quickly and cause more potential harm to those in a community. In addition, as a Christ follower, God says we should love our neighbor as our selves, and when these clown impersonators harm and threaten our communities and its citizens, then they are not loving and honoring our neighbor. Therefore, I believe that these “clowns” should cease their practices and our communities should continue to educate out children on how to be safe with these threats around.
