I read an article from D Magazine written by urban designer, Patrick Kennedy. It discussed the possibility that in the price range that it cost to build Klyde Warren park, Dallas could have built 3 to 4 more parks in areas more likely needing attention.

The author gives a visual of a highway that runs through deep Ellum that is in need for repairs, which creating a park there would be like killing two birds with one stone. Attention to this area could bring more revenue for the city which would ultimately would result in billions of dollars. He also sees that there is low demand and high costs in similar and surrounding areas. There is not enough demand to put extensive reconstruction in these areas, but they are need in of a renewal project. More parks being produced in these areas would bring the wanted attention and recreate the environment for these places according to Kennedy. It would increase the value of the neighborhood.

He also believes there is not a need for major highways to connect to downtown because it creates congestion. The goal for him is to create a more livable area.
