Throughout the past 10 years talk about drones has progressed from a small topic of debate to a tangible outlet of "protection". Arlington, Texas home of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Six Flags Over Texas theme parks, has now become the first city in the United States to own a drone. An article from WFAA local news states that the drones cost $202,259 and the funds came from grant money from Homeland Security.

Arlington citizens believe that the decision for drones in their area was due to crime rates; however, there has been no secure disclosure as to why Arlington of all places is the pioneer of the United States, concerning launching drones.

With much controversy and evidence that shows drones to have more qualities that add to destruction, rather than accomplish their created goals, is this a good thing for citizens in the surrounding area?

Drones not only act against our right to privacy, but the secrecy is no longer okay for citizens.

These drones definitely are a violation to our privacy. I believe that drones are not a good idea for "protecting" Arlington or any city for that matter. I can see how it would be good to be able to spot crime from high in the sky and report it, but I think that it is a violation of our privacy.
