The relevance to the course due to the responsibilities our President handles other injustices with our allies in showing his character to be a strong leader. In the article, “U.S. to help Nigeria bring back kidnapped girls,” written by the Newsela staff addresses the current “international outrage” which occurred on the day of April 15, 2014. Nigeria is under immense pressure where as a country turned to the United States for assistance to free the three hundred teenage girls who were kidnapped by the Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram, before they are sold into slavery or harmed in any form. There has been a report of fifty-three girls who found a way to escape, but the remaining two hundred and seventy-six girls are still in captivity. Boko Haram believes in their fundamental interpretation of their Islam culture, which includes the secular decisions of a western democracy and non- religious education. In result to this heart-breaking occurrence, there are several female U.S. senators and a more private group of senators are encouraging the justice to be done in a severe manner towards, Boko Haram. President Obama will send out experts to assist the Nigerian government, and the decision how to handle the justice to be served will be decided by Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan. I chose this article because I have a natural interest with global social injustice. I have a dream to become a Federal agent in the United States to prevent one of the biggest global social issue, human trafficking. I like to be informed of our global network either their local happenings or crime. My faith-based response to this issue would consist of praying, research scripture about similar situations and discussing the matter to a mentor. I also would consider the injustice possibility to my country or their country.
As a father of three little girls my hear aches for the parents of these children. The sad thing about this situation is that this is a DAILY if not by the second crime against humanity happening globally. My issues with the # campaign is that it does absolutely nothing to help these children. Remember KONI 2012. The same guy who is murdering people in Africa is still on the loose killing people. Yes it brings awareness to the U.S. This is grander problem than just this one isolated incident. It is sad that such a large scale assault on humanity might be the proverbial straw that breaks the camels back and we finally see ACTION. My little sister is spending her summer in the Czech Republic helping girls who have been rescued from human trafficking rings. These innocent children have lost faith in humanity and she is there to witness. That by the grace of GOD these girls can find Christ. I don't have a solution to this problem other than doing what I know best as a Veteran and that would be going in to these areas and taking these girls back with force and eliminating the threat against humanity.
