Could a country that is officially atheist house the largest Christian population in the world? The answer could be a resounding "yes" if the country is China with its massive population. This will be a fascinating story to follow given the many constraints Chinese Believers face.

This story shows how leaders can easily try to cover up the truth in order to try to hold onto their power. No matter how hard people try to take away Jesus from people, they will never succeed because the power of Christ is stronger than any man made law or ordinance or decree. These articles are amazing because it shows that in a country where Christianity is feared and tried to be hushed out, it is spreading faster than any other country (including America). It is almost disappointing, showing that in the United States, a country built on God, has less Christians. I chose this article because I am fascinated with culture and how Christianity affects different people. I am hoping to visit China someday and teach in the elementary schools there, if not there, another Asian country. Jesus says to make disciples of all nations, and with a love of travel and children, hopefully I can reach multiple countries in my short lifetime.
Doesn't sound like a problem for China, besides the leaders wanting to hold onto their power and lying about the statistics. With the growing numbers, for China this movement can be the hugest culture change in the history of China. I am excited to see how it affects China in the next decades to come.
I think this story can be received in a very positive sense, or simply just a neutral sense. Of course, it's incredible that Christianity is spreading rampantly throughout such an oppressive, heavily atheist society. It's truly a testament to the power of God and the fact that he has overcome this world. However, even if the gospel reaches everyone in China and believers multiply, that still will probably never change the government's stance against faith and persecution of believers. China may be able to house the world's largest population of Christians because it so overwhelmingly huge, but the chances of China ever being known as a Christian country are slim to none.
I think that it's cool that it will have a large Christian pop. but we have to look at that maybe with in the increase in Christians there will come an increase in persecution. Since China is one of top mission orientated places we have to look at all of cons which are of course for the glory of God. But of course I feel like maybe China already in leading with the number or underground churches popping up http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/world/2010/December/Underground-Chinese-...
I think we can expect a lot of things happening in china soon with this increase in Christianity im sure will come an increase in persecution
In my opinion, the spread of Christianity in China will be a positive impact among the Chinese population. It will be a great testimony to give to other Non-Christian nations who opposes any religious believes. It will be awesome! Many international students from DBU, who come from China return back home with accepting Christ as their savior . So they are returning to China talking to their close friends and family about God and converting their believes from worshiping Buddha and being atheist. I think it won't be long till China officially become a Christian Country.
The outbreak of Christianity in China is nothing short of a miracle, and I don't think anyone would argue that. In reading the above replies, I do tend do agree that the more widespread Christianity will become, the more cons (in my opinion) I believe it will have. The persecution of Christians in China is one of the most horrific tragedies that we hear about, and some days never even hear about.
China is HUGE, therefore the chances of Christianity spreading faster, is a lot easier/better, but on the other hand, I would tend to agree that just because of Chinas population, it doesn't mean the country is automatically going to become a Christian nation. Do I hope and pray it does? Yes. Although in the mean time I do believe it is so important that we keep sending, training and equipping people to reach China so that one day it could potentially become a Christian nation!
No matter how atheist the country might be, God can perform wonders that we cannot even imagine. He has brought so many atheists to Him, so who is to say that He could not turn a whole atheist country Christian? It all starts with one person. Just like Angelica said, with all of the international Chinese students returning home as Christians, we could very well see a huge change in China. Once they tell their relatives about Jesus, then those relatives tell other people, it spreads and that is how a whole country will come to know Him.
It would be so awesome to see this take place, especially since China has such an influence on the rest of the countries because of how big it is and because of its flourishing business control. If China were to become the country with the biggest Christian population, I believe that Christianity would spread at a very fast rate.
